OMRON Receives Top 100 Global Innovators Award for Fifth Consecutive Year

Named Among World’s Most Innovative Corporations or Research Institutions Once Again! OMRON has announced that it has been selected as one of the Top 100 Global Innovators 2021 by Clarivate for the fifth consecutive year.

Clarivate selects the Top 100 Global Innovators based on their proprietary intellectual property and patent data. This global information service firm analyzes intellectual property trends using an independent index in order to identify the world's most innovative corporations and research institutions, thereafter recognizing them for their outstanding traits. Candidates for this award are evaluated by analysis based on Clarivate’ database in terms of four main criteria: volume, success, globalization, and influence. Among these criteria, OMRON was rated particularly high for globalization, which is determined by the number of basic patents obtained in the four major world markets (U.S., Europe, Japan, and China).

In 1959, OMRON founder Kazuma Tateishi established the company’s corporate motto, "To improve lives and contribute to a better society." True to this motto as its spiritual cornerstone, OMRON has since produced numerous innovations and pursued new challenges by making continued efforts to develop better social infrastructures.

As part of the enhancement of the "management of technology", OMRON established the Innovation Exploring Initiative Headquarters in March 2018 and OMRON SINIC X Corporation, OMRON’s subsidiary that draws “Near-Future Design” in April of the same year. Innovation Exploring Initiative Headquarters is a company-wide innovation platform, which is responsible for making the process of creating innovation driven by social needs for our organizational knowledge and strengthening the capacity to create new value. OMRON SINIC X Corporation are accelerating the creation of “near-future design” while acquiring cutting-edge technologies and intellectual properties by engaging in open innovation. In addition, Technology and Intellectual Property Headquarters created intellectual property strategy linked to business and R&D strategies to utilize their intellectual property in management and business based on the management philosophy and is promoting intellectual property activities in global.
